Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Waldron (nee Pollock) of Ottawa, Ontario entered into rest on May 9, 2024 at the age of 88.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Jim and her only child, Jimmy as well as her sister Maureen. Betty is lovingly survived by her brother Bob Pollock, her nieces Sherry, Evelyn and Louanne and nephews Donald, Michael and James, plus extended family and her many dear friends.
Betty was the eldest child of parents Adam and Evelyn Pollock and grew up in Hillcrest, Alberta. The childhood she shared with her younger twin siblings in that small coal mining town was a source of numerous funny stories and a time she remembered fondly. Later, Betty and her parents lived in Calgary, which is where she met her husband and the love of her life, Jim Waldron. After marrying, the pair shared many adventures together as Jim’s military career sent them to locations across Canada such as Ottawa and Victoria, and abroad to Germany and Cyprus. While raising their son Jimmy, Betty worked in banking, beginning as a Teller and advancing to management.
Betty was someone who loved to travel, to move every four years whether she needed to or not, to laugh, tease, and hold dinner parties for family and friends. She had incredible joie de vivre despite experiencing the tragic loss of her son and husband too early and then battling a series of health issues. She spoke her mind but was generous and welcoming and formed strong friendships wherever she went with her wicked sense of humor.
Betty is loved and missed by all who knew her. A Graveside Funeral Service will take place Tuesday May 21st at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion.
The family wish to thank Dr. Chapman and all the doctors and staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and Stonehaven Manor for their care and compassion.

I enjoyed having Betty as a neighbour, and as a co-volunteer at Miller's Oven. I am sorry we lost touch the last few years, and unfortunately I am unable to attend her service on Tuesday.
Betty ,as we all called her, moved to our Amberwood 55 Pulse Community.
As her neighbor across the street we had some good times chatting about her travels and helped her with her gardening. She will be missed.
