It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Dr. Thomas Dufour on December 14, at the age of 82. Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlette (Pilon), three children Thomas (Catherine), Éric (Jill) and Daphné (Jamie), and six grandchildren, Henri, Thomas, Elliot, Noah, Charlotte and Julien. Tom was the son of Dr. Thomas (Ted) Dufour and Ruby Kenney (both deceased). He leaves his brother Peter and his sister Michelle Dufour Kosan. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Michèle Cusson (Robert, deceased) and Sylvie Tilden (Matt), as well as nieces and nephews.

Tom was a generous man who lived his life with kindness and integrity. His family was always his priority, his inspiration and his profound joy. He was a surgeon at the Montfort Hospital for over 30 years and spent his life caring for others. His kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed, but we are comforted by the fact that he lived a long and happy life. He will be fondly remembered by all who crossed his path.

In memory of Tom, donations to the Montfort Hospital Foundation or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.

Special thanks to Dr. André Gauthier, his family physician for over 30 years, and to his cardiologist Dr. Roland Sabbagh.

A visitation will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Beechwood on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10 a.m.

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, proof of vaccination will be required and there will be no reception following the service.

Because the situation with COVID-19 remains fluid at this time, please consult Ottawa Public Health guidelines for restriction updates on the date of these events.

Tom a été un ami silencieux pour moi depuis que nous fréquentions les même classes à la "petite école" au cours des années 40 et 50. Nos vies se sont séparées mais j'ai toujours conservé un précieux souvenir de cette amitié.
