In the comfort of his home, Dr. David Doyle passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2024. He was 80 years old.

David is pre-deceased by Beth (nee Montague), his loving wife of 40 years as well as by his parents Philip Ernest and Mary Catherine (nee MacDonell) and his brother Philip. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer and Christine (Nigel Mailman), his sister Anne Marie as well as his grandsons Matthew and Benjamin, of whom he was very proud. He will be missed by his extended Doyle, Neville, Montague and Addelman families, including his many nieces and nephews and his many friends and former associates.

He will be remembered for his gentle and loving nature which embraced not only family members and friends but also his little dog Toby, his ever-present companion.

David was a pioneer in his branch of medicine. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree at St. Francis Xavier (Antigonish, NS) and a medical degree at University of Toronto, he went on to specialize in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

With these formidable credentials he established and became the head of the Pediatric Developmental Medicine Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where he was respected by his colleagues and revered by his many patients as a warm, thoughtful, reassuring and kind man.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, in Beechwood’s Chapel at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation to CHEO, the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Center, the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Francis Xavier University.

Sad news indeed…all those who knew Dave
and Cheo are missing a truly gentle man who followed in his father’s footsteps. I had the honour of knowing Dave and his future brothers in law while at St FX. Together again with his beautiful Beth

David leaves a legacy of love, compassion, deep respect for humanity, a fierce devotion to children's health professionally and a robust humour as reflected in the many pictures his extended friends and family captured of him over the decades. Thank you .

I had the pleasure and privilege of working with David at the OCTC for many years. He was a wonderful doctor and a kind, gentle, decent human being.
