On December 19th, 2022, Arthur Blair Adams, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away too soon following a heart attack. Blair was born in London Ontario to Roy and Elizabeth (née Miller) and grew up in Ottawa. A graduate of Lisgar Collegiate Institute, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Carleton University before studying dentistry at the University of Western Ontario and specializing in orthodontics at Tufts University. He established a successful orthodontic practice in Ottawa; his patients and peers will remember him for his eye for detail and his infectious love of learning. Friends knew him for his passions for skiing, cycling, and travel, his sense of humour, and his unending quest for barbecue perfection.
Blair was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Kathryn “Joselyn” (née Sweeney), their daughter Nicola (Craig Williams), grandchildren Leo, Margaret, and Audrey, sister Nancy, and nieces Kate and Lesley. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Alyson (the late Dr. Ed McLelland).
Complete obituary to be published in the Ottawa Citizen on Friday, December 30th and Saturday, December 31st.
In honour of Blair’s wishes, there will be no public gathering. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Red Cross, the Ottawa Humane Society or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family.

Such a sad day. I know Blair and Joselyn in a fairly specific way in that I had the joy of looking after their lovely dog, Quito on many occasion. Blair's endless, charming smile and his easy demeanour always put a smile on my face. You will be very missed, Blair. God rest you well.

Blair was a client and he and Joselyn became friends after our professional relationship ended; I was their travel consultant. Their love of travel, adventure and each other was very special. Condolences Joselyn, to you and your family.

Needless to say it still seems to shocking to acknowledge this news. I met Blair (Dr. Adams) and Joselyn through business but it quickly became a bit closer and personal. I cannot begin to express how interesting and how pleasurable it was to become a friend of theirs. I loved all my visits to the Orthodontic Practice. I was fortunate also to spend time with them at meetings and conferences. I truly looked forward to our long dinner discussions, going to hear their lovely Daughter Nicola sing in the Ottawa Bach Choir at the Embassy and at Carnegie Hall. Blair and Joselyn were beaming with pride. I was in awe of Blair's athletic ability whether they were riding a bicycle around Manhattan or skiing the slopes of South America. Joselyn was surely his perfect match and soulmate. I can still imagine his pithy sense of humor and wisdom. I am glad I also got to meet Quito as their love of pets was also great fun. I know Joselyn will continue to live a positive and good life as Blair would want her to with her Daughter, Nicola, Son-in-law Craig and their beautiful Grandchildren. Blair's legacy and loving memory will live on into perpetuity. He is also missed by many colleagues at OraMetrix (Sure Smile).

Dear Jocelyn,
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Although I only met Blair once, when you visited us in Ann Arbor all those years ago, he must have been a remarkable man to have won and kept your heart.
