Don was a great neighbour and we will miss him. we also wish he had not suffered so much, both for the loss of his wife and the cancer that finally took his life.

Don was a great soldier and mentor to many. It's a sad day in the regimental family on his passing. He will be greatly missed. He can now RIP.

I was sorry to get a call regarding Don's passing. Benda & Don were good friends when we were in Hemer/Iserlohn in the late 60's, and we had kept in touch over the years. He is with Brenda once again.

An officer and a gentleman

I still look over at Don’s front door expecting him to walk out with a smile and a glimmer in his eye. While I only knew Don for just over 8 years, he left a lasting impression on me of the finest qualities a man can possess. He was the most kind, upbeat, selfless neighbour, friend and husband to Brenda. Don restored my faith in people, showed me that chivalry still exists and cared for Brenda with unwavering devotion. He would carry our bins back to our door on recycling and garbage days, he would clear the end of the driveway so that I could pick up my kids without being asked. We would often do our best to repay the favours. I will miss our chats in the garden, delivering meals and baked goods to his door, cards on holidays and most importantly his words of advice. He may be gone, but he is not forgotten. May he rest in peace with Brenda.
