Ding Chang Wang passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the Ottawa General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Yu Ching and a steadfast, loving father to Yi Hang (Lena) and Connie (Jack) and proud grandfather of Phoebe, Audrey and Calvin.

A professor, physicist and translator, Ding Chang wore many hats over the course of his career. He had a brilliant mind and a laser sharp memory beyond his years. He lived life simply and enjoyed telling stories of his experience with family and friends.

For more than three decades, Ding Chang was a cherished member of the Ottawa Chinese United Church. He remained committed to studying God’s scriptures and continued to learn faithfully until his health no longer allowed him to do so.

He approached life with quiet determination and defied aging with his strong will to live independently. He held a personal goal of becoming the first in the Wang family to reach 100 years old. Although he did not ultimately fulfill that goal, it was this aspiration that gave him purpose and strength in his later years.

Ding Chang’s life will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) at 10 a.m. in the sacred space, immediately followed by an interment at 11 a.m. A private livestream will be made available by the family for those joining virtually.
