Peacefully, in Ottawa and surrounded by loved ones, Dhanraj Latchman passed away on May 4th, 2022.  Beloved husband of Mrs. Lynnette Latchman, cherished father of Anita (Gopal), Jaikaran, Indira (Shiv), Deveka (Steve), Vicky (Dhar), Sabita (Par) and Geeta (Charles). Proud grandfather of 15 and 3 great- grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed. After working many years in Guyana as a dispenser, he moved to Canada and worked in long-term care until his retirement. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, a lover of nature and animals, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 12th between 6 pm – 9 pm and celebration of life on Friday, May 13th, at 9 am at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.  Love was his legacy.

Rest in peace, Nana. You were an amazing grandfather to all of us grandkids. My heart is broken that you are gone. Your memories will forever be a blessing. It was your courage and sacrifice that paved the way for a better way of life for my generation and for that I am truly grateful. You were a man who loved to laugh and be around his family. Your legacy is love.

My dear dad, we will forever miss you. I will also miss clowning around with you by calling you "Latchman". He would then give the biggest smile.
We will always remember the sacrifices you made for your children to have a better opportunity in Canada. Despite being very young when we left Guyana, I remember all the wonderful times we had growing up in Guyana. You always prioritized family. After a long day's work, my older siblings would have dinner made and packed, waiting for dad to come home so we can all load into the car to see a drive-in movie...every Friday night . On weekends, we would go for cook outs near the airport, the areas are great for picnics. Dad would find the perfect branch to hang a pot on to have a cookout.
He loved to visit his friends and their families and of course we all tagged along. He had the most amazing friends both in Guyana and in Canada.
His personality waa magnetic. We were so fortunate to have him as our Father. We were never in need of anything growing up. Despite having 7 children, he and Mom provided everything and more we possibly needed. He made our lives memorable!
Dad was a very respected man in Guyana and in Canada. Many times at the Dispensery he would help people who had no money for medicine or dress their wounds. He helped people if when he was off duty. May the Lord welcome you with open arms. Love you and will always cherish the memories.

Dabit personified attributes of a gentleman. His dedication to the sick was remarkable. I have fond memories of him as a kid, he did an extraction of my tooth while living in Bath Settlement and to this day, no dentist can fill his shoe for empathy and care for my fear of extraction and fillings.
Dabit, you were blessed with longevity and now your work on earth is done. The love we have for you will live on in our hearts through the memories we shared with you!!. You fondly called me "Baby" being the last of my siblings and I will always remember that. My condolences to Sister Lynette and your children and grandchildren. Rest in Everlasting peace with your maker ?.....Beatrice

The inherited Legacy of Love........ Love of Family,Friends and the World at Large. His Life personified excellence. The foundation that was laid for Compassion,Humility and Integrity will forever be the corner stone for his children and grandchildren. Truly, life will not be the same by losing such a close loved one. But,we must find a way to go on.To lead our lives well bravely, intelligently and with dignity. This is what He would have dreamed for.If we only take his example we can see all that he did and find pleasure and strength in seeing how much a greater place he has left this world, bigger and brighter. All my moments spent with Him were like a " SUDAMA" visiting his friend "LORD KHRISNA" the welcome smile and the inspiration given. A lot of memories my friend, GO WHERE YOUR SERVICES ARE NEEDED MORE.
