It is with sadness and love that we say goodbye to our beloved Brother, Son, Uncle, Great Uncle Derek who passed away suddenly. Peacefully on January 4, 2025 Derek Seymour of Ottawa Ontario, formerly Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, left us at the age of 63. Derek came to Ontario in hopes of finding a fresh beginning. He settled in the community of Vanier where he worked in the warehousing industry, enjoyed darts, cards and socials.

Derek will be sadly missed and leaves behind his mother, Lavina Seymour, siblings Randy (Betty), Bruce (Donna), Terry (Sylvie), Delphine (Rodney), Cindy (Glen), 11 nieces and nephews as well as 17 cherished great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Father, Clayton Seymour (2013), his kitten Peaches and longtime friend and landlord Ernie Doucette.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Beechwood and a Celebration of Derek's Life will be held at a later determined date and location.

Sadly as the passing of a son and sibling; it cannot be measured by anyone elses experiences but those of Derek's family. I believe Derek lived a happy and satisfying life in Ottawa. His enjoyment of darts and cards along with a very caring landlord watching over him, provided him much security which I feel he may have not received so openly growing up at home. His photo above gives me the spiritual vision that Derek was living his life to the fullest. While I am saddened too, I am happy Derek was a neighbor whom I grew up with even if we threw rocks at each other. May he forever find eternal peace and love in the hands of God the father in heaven. RIP our brotherly neighbor.

Brother-in-Law, although your journey with us too brief, your love lives on through time. Every tear we shed reflects the love we shared and bond we bear. Now in heaven you find your peacefull place. RIP
