Dave wheeled up to my place as I was busy gardening. He made himself known, and brought lots of conversation to the day. That is how I knew him. And he just wheeled up to our place, stayed out front until we came out and had a visit or even brought him back to have a beer and some snacks. But always there was great conversation and lots of laughter.
What a wonderful neighbour. What a great friend.

The Babbit Family and my family, the Sommerfelds, were neighbours and friends when all of us kids were growing up in the sixties and seventies on Meadow Drive and Plumtree Crescent in Manor Park. I hung out with David's younger siblings Cynthia and James skiing, tobogganing and playing hide and seek. David was one of the "older" kids and friends with my older brothers but I remember him well.
My sincere condolences to all of the Babbit Family. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Dave and I met in IBM Basic Training class in early 1975. We worked together for many years in a variety of sales groups within IBM. He was always a source of good humour, creativity, and fun that made work enjoyable. My best wishes to Sally and the family.

Dave was a great guy, so great in many ways. We all need more Dave in our lives.

Growing up on Meadow Drive was a childhood full of friends with the Babbitt’s house at the top of the street. While my gang played with Cynthia and James, running through the sand pit, biking on the hermit path, David was my older brothers’ age. I remember him always with a big smile. Let that smile be his memory. My deepest condolences to all the Babbitt family.

Dave was a great guy! Our annual May long weekend white-water canoe trips with the boys down the Petawawa River were very, very special. Every outing was so memorable. Equal to that was our white-water rafting expedition down the Firth River in the Yukon. it was so good that the National Geographic asked if they could tag along with us. His love for the outdoors and adventure made spending time with him and enjoying his company very endearing.
We will miss him.
Our most heartfelt condolences to Sally and the the kids for their loss.

I can look for the reference to a site on which there are many articles on this question.
I grew up with the Babbitt family on Meadow Drive in Ottawa's North-east end (renamed Meadow Park Place following amalgamation). There were many childhood memories: skiing, playing football in a back field, spending time at the Babbitt's cottage on Lac Pemichangan, and just getting into 'good' trouble, which is what kids did in those days. David was always happy, smiling, friendly, optimistic, and made friends easily. Life is short, but David was a good husband, father, and grandfather. He faced his later years' health challenges stoically and continued to lead a full and productive life. His influence will live on for many generations to come in many ways. My very sincere condolences to the entire Babbitt family.
