Benoit J. Tardif of Plessisville, QC passed away at La Maison de l’Est, Ottawa on March 21, 2026 at the age of 95 years. He leaves behind Jean, his beloved wife and best friend for 72 years. Forever loving father of Paul (Linda) and Rob (Wendy). Brother of Claude, Denis, André and Gilles.

Ben joined the RCAF in 1949 and met the love of his life, Jean his English bride. His career enriched the entire family with postings to Montreal, Trenton, Germany, Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg. Ben was a scholar, an exceptional technical writer and master of Latin and languages. His retirement brought him back to Ottawa. Winters in Bradenton Florida added years to his life, energized Ben and Jean, made them youthful with vigor, establishing forever bonds with Canadian and American friends especially those in Golf Lakes and on the lawn bowling greens.

There will be a mass on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11:00 am, followed by a small gathering at the church, Annunciation of the Lord, 2414 Ogilvie Road, Gloucester, ON.

Sincere condolences to Jean on the loss of her husband of 72,years and Paul & Linda and Rob & Wendy on the loss of their Father. We have many happy memories of gourmet dinner gatherings with Ben & Jean - going to Upper Canada Playhouse and dinner after and celebrating milestone birthdays together. And of course Hal had a special bond with Ben both being Safety System techs, and both retiring as CWO's.

We’re friends from the lawn bowling club in Ottawa . Sorry to hear of Ben;s passing but glad to have met him and enjoy his company. 811 Eastvale Drive is a second connection for us . My son and family now are proud owners of your former residence. Small world!

Jean, please accept our deepest sympathy. We have missed both you and Ben at our lawn bowling, and are sad that we won't have the opportunity for any more games against Ben. Such a great player! such a gentleman!
