With much love, we are sad to announce the passing of Constance (Connie) McCann-Wilkes. Predeceased by her beloved spouse Keith Wilkes, survived and cherished by her sons Sean, Kevin (Paula) and Colin. Survived by her loving siblings, Anne and Angus, her grandchildren Alex, Andrea and Matthew, and several grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Alexander and Marion Christian, as well as Francine Lefebvre who was like a daughter. Also predeceased by Raymond McCann.
She will be cherished by her many friends and family members, remembered for her incredible love and kindness. She always put everyone else first. One of her steadfast beliefs was that "it doesn't cost anything to be nice," and she always lived up to that.
Connie was proud of her work in the Privy Council Office. Upon retirement she loved gardening and thoroughly enjoyed her deep-dive into genealogy. This was not surprising, as family - past and present - was so very important to her. She will continue to be loved and cherished by so many, forever remembered for being such an incredible, wonderful person.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Friday, March 21st, 2025, for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 p.m, with a Reception to follow.

My deepest sympathies go out to Sean, Kevin and Colin with this immeasurable loss, and I wish you much strength, comfort and love as you come to terms with it. My cousin Connie and I lived thousands of miles and countries apart so we didn’t see each or talk often, but it was always as if we just saw each recently when we did speak. Our last conversation was this past Christmas and we reminisced and laughed – it was lovely. Even though she struggled with health issues for a long time, it’s clear that her deeper strength and cheerful spirit always shone through. She had such a rich curiosity, kindness and genuine interest in everyone who touched her life and she had so many interests …especially her passion for (family) history and genealogy (thank you Connie for all the hundreds hours over the years investigating, and mapping this out for the rest of us :-))… to her love of planting beautiful flowers in her garden and the joy of her loving sons, grandchildren and many friends and family. Rest in peace dearest Connie, you will be missed but never forgotten. Love from cousin Kathy x
