It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Christian Nsanzimfura Bagirubwira of Vancouver on December 11, 2024, at the age of 36 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Eric Bagirubwira (Caroline Filion); sister and cousin, Nicole Barakengera (James Trevail); uncle Martin Barakengera (Christine Nyiraneza) who played a pivotal role in his upbringing; as well as numerous relatives. He will also be missed by his many friends in Vancouver and Ottawa.

Christian was predeceased by his loving parents Jeanne-Françoise Barakengera and Jean-Baptiste Bagirubwira.

Christian was born in Kigali, Rwanda, and his life’s journey took him to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Eswatini, South Africa, and finally to Canada, where he arrived in March 2004 at the age of 15 years.

Known for his generosity and thoughtfulness, Christian had a remarkable ability to put others first. His engaging personality, kind spirit, wits and effortless sense of humor made him the life of every gathering. He enjoyed drawing, arts, music, and creating podcasts, always finding ways to express his creativity and share his passion with others.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Beechwood Funeral Home and Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of his remarkable life and the joy he brought to so many.
