In loving memory of Chang Qing Xie who was born in China on August 16, 1939, and sadly passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023 in Ottawa, after battling with dementia for several years at the age of 84.

Chang Qing Xie was a cherished member of the Xie family and a respected patriarch. He left his country in China as an accountant to start a new life in Canada during the 1990s. Not knowing any English, he bravely started a new life in Ottawa with his wife and two children, working very labour intensive jobs. He is survived by his three children: Jian Xin (wife Li Ya), Jian Ying (husband Po Luk Wu), and Jian Biao (wife Li Zhen). Proud grandfather to: Julie Wu (husband Kris Wilgocki), Gen Han (wife Si Qi Yu), Victoria, Vincent and Valerie.

Throughout his life, Chang was known for his love of gardening, a passion for pigeons and his expertise as a skilled Chinese chess player.

Family was of utmost importance to Chang, and he deeply treasured every moment spent with his loved ones. There are many special memories with family that were shared around a table filled with food.

The loss of Chang Qing Xie is deeply felt by all who knew him. We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his beloved wife Cai Xiang Ye. He will be forever missed but never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held in honour of Chang Qing Xie at Beechwood Cemetery and Funeral Services (280 Beechwood Avenue) on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Lunch will be held at a restaurant after services. We invite all who knew him to join us in celebrating his life and saying our final goodbyes.

May Chang Qing Xie rest in eternal peace.
