It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Elizabeth Honey (Cox) in her 78th year, on 14 January 2021, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Carol was born in Lindsay, raised in Fort Erie and graduated from the Mack Training School for Nurses in St. Catharines as a Registered Nurse. As proud and devoted military wife of Capt Dave Honey, she lived and nursed in: Soest, West Germany; Camp Borden, ON; Oromocto, NB; Edmonton, AB; Burlington, ON; Chilliwack, BC; Trenton, ON; and in Kingston, ON. She enjoyed dancing, skating, and was an avid swimmer. She was also a trusty 1st mate on sailing vessel Bear Pause. She was a competent nurse who touched the lives of many people with compassion, empathy and exemplary care.
Carol is survived her sister Judy Cox, her daughters Liisa Honey (Doug Cochen), and Lara Russell (Bob), as well as her grandchildren Emma, Liam, Nile and Elena.
A joint celebration of life for Carol and Dave will take place on Friday November 15th at the Hall of Colours of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON after 1 p.m. Interment of Carol & Dave's urns will follow at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at 3 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
