With equal parts love and grief, we share that our mother, Blanca Sonia Villegas Watt passed away on November 21st. We, her two daughters Michelle and Kristina, held her hands through her last breath.

Born in 1936 in Medellin, Colombia, she is daughter to Lola and Luis, and sister to Alicia, Elena, Alvaro, Luis Alberto, Astrid, Raoul, and Maria Eugenia de la Paz. Grandmother to her beloved Alexandra.

Sonia lived life to its absolute fullest, and always with style, passion and grace. She will be celebrated for her creative gifts -- a gardener, cook, seamstress, designer -- all of which she shared. Above all, her calor humano (human warmth) as a daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend will continue living in all who she touched. "Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto." (Mercedes Sosa)

In accordance with her wishes, we will celebrate her life and mourn our loss in her home of Colombia alongside family and friends. Her ashes will join those of her family passed, and her memories will breathe on in anyone who knew her worldwide.

In lieu of flowers and cards, donations can be made to support a small company (100 Watt Productions) that fosters confidence and courage in youth through theatre. For donations of any amountplease contact Sonia's daughter, Kristina, at kristina100watt@gmail.com, with thanks.

Beautiful testimony. Very touching. I did not know Sonia but she lives on in her remarkable daughter Kristina who is a genuine gift to the world.

Dear Kristina, Michelle and family,

This is a beautiful tribute to a special life. Just as the place and the family we call home never leaves us, those who are home to us will always live in our hearts.

I will make a donation in honour of Sonia to 100 Watt Productions to support the life, art, and hope that is courageously and lovingly fostered.

Love,
Abby

A loving and genuine tribute to a beautiful soul. It is so lovey to see this photo of her in her youth — her light shines through her daughters. A life well lived. All condolences as she soars on your memories.

What a beautifully written tribute to your lovely mother. In addition to her endearing accent and gentle way of speaking, I remember what a perfectionist Sonia was in all her artistic endeavours. She was such a special who will be remembered with great fondness. My sincere condolences to Michelle and Kristina.

What a beautiful tribute to your mother, and such a lovely photo of her. The care you gave her right to the end is such a tribute to the person she was. May her memory be a blessing.
