It is with sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, nonna, bis-nonna, and dear friend to so many.
Bettina went to be with her Lord, and with her beloved husband, Romeo, on Saturday, June 21, 2025. She enjoyed a long, gratifying and blessed life, having emigrated from Bern, Switzerland to Ottawa in 1955, as a new bride, filled with love and determination. She was a faith-guided woman, devoted primarily to her family.
She was happily married to Romeo (late) for 67 years, with children Allessandra (Vance Millar), Marco (Chantal Miner), and Fabio (Lisa Zanetti). She was the proud nonna of Nathalie (Timothy), Ryan (Stephanie), Julian, Robyn (Kyle), Lucas, Katrina (Andy), Julia (Keaghan), and Sofia (Mark); and bis-nonna of Liam, Eli, Lana Rose, Harvey, Florence, Nathanael, and Aurora.
Bettina was the radiant soul and lead of the family home, gracious, elegant, and generous, to exemplary levels. She welcomed interaction with quiet splendor, hosting with a delicate balance of glee, poise and kindness. In her kitchen, meals became indelible memories, and through every gesture, she wove a sanctuary of joy, love, respect and enduring tradition.
Later in life, she became a proud business owner alongside Romeo. Bettina oversaw sales, client relations and thorough bookkeeping with dedication and precision. She found truly fulfilling pride in this chapter of her life, able to express and activate her talents, which resulted in an invaluable contribution to their shared success.
A woman of high ideals and convictions, Bettina had a unique ability to engage with others in a way that would bring out their best. Kind, warm, content, self-effacing, always hopeful and committed, were just some of the wonderful traits that defined her. Words cannot express how our lives have been enriched by knowing and having spent time with her. She will be immensely missed.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Leroux, and in no less measure, to all the medical and administrative staff at Willowbend Retirement Community and Ontario Health atHome, for their dedication, professionalism, respect and compassionate attention.
A memorial service to honour Bettina’s legacy will be held at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Friday, August 8th at 10 a.m, followed by the interment at 11 a.m. and a reception until 1:30 p.m. Those unable to attend in person, may attend virtually via live stream, by way of the following link: https://commemora.tv/en/diffusions/112079
In lieu of flowers, your kind donations to Mouth and Foot Painting Artists or Arthritis Society of Canada, will be greatly appreciated.

We are saddened by Bettina's death and send our sympathies to her wonderful family. She was truly a great lady, gracious hostess and good friend. We enjoyed many pleasureable get -togethers with her and Romeo over some 40 years or so. They both are missed.
