Surrounded by friends and family, this week we said goodbye to Bernice “Bunny” Fraser.
Raised in Toronto, Bernice developed her adventurous spirit pursuing her passions and opportunities. From model and singer; from librarian throughout the Peterborough school system to roadie for the folk band Tanglefoot; from mother, step-mother, second-mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to designer of cordwood masonry homes that impressed engineers and architects alike.
Together with her partner David (Bear) they crisscrossed Canada and the US on speaking engagements on the value of continued learning for seniors.
It was only when her body limited and confined her adventures did she choose to take the greatest, albeit final, adventure of all.
Bernice loved books, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and woodworking, but most valued family, friendships, and life. She loved knitting beautiful sweaters and blankets for her grandchildren.
Also, Bernice will be remembered for her tenacity and perseverance, and welcoming friends to become family.
We’d like thank the staff at Kingston General Hospital and the VON PSWs for all their love and support.
