Barry passed away peacefully at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of Nicole (née Diotte). Loving father of Sherri (Hugh Faloon) and Ian and stepfather of Julie Lamothe (Marc) and Rachel Letellier (John). Proud grandfather of Kristopher, Samantha and Benjamin and step grandfather to Anika, Justin, Emilie, Maxime and Yana.

Predeceased by his first wife Margaret (née Brown), his brother Bob, his sister-in-law Joyce and his niece Linda (Dave}. He will also be greatly missed by his brother-in-law Michel Diotte (Denise), his nephew Robert Blair (Aura) and his niece Kathy Blair (Jim).

During the period of 1954 to 1965 Barry served as a military engineer and army pilot in the Canadian Army. He volunteered to participate in the Korean War.

After retiring from the Public Service as Director General Air Navigation System, Transport Canada in 1989, he established his firm "Blair Consulting Services Inc." to provide consulting services specializing in aviation. His work involved being a senior advisor to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in matters of air navigation system and airports in several countries in Europe.

Barry loved playing his saxophone and clarinet in several bands. Fitness and outdoor activities were always part of his life.

Many thanks to the staff at the Perley for their care and compassion during his final journey. A private burial service and celebration of life will take place with the immediate family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Foundation would be appreciated.

The Class of Royal Roads '52 / Royal Military College '54 is deeply saddened by the passing of our Classmate. Barry spent all of his four academic and military studies years at RMC, graduating with our Class on June 1, 1954. Barry was a very popular member of our Class and a friend to many of us. He will be sorely missed but he will be remembered. Our sincere sympathies go out to Barry's wife, Nicole, and indeed to all the Blair family. 3201 Austen (Aus) Cambon, Class Secretary.

I was saddened to hear of Barry’s passing. Although our paths had not crossed for many years, we were classmates at college, both engineers and fellow airmen. I admired greatly his quiet leadership backed by knowledge and experience. I wish to extend my condolences to the family.

I have such warm memories of Civil Engineering at RMC. We were only 12 in our Civil group and we had two years of fellowship in the labs and the drafting room. He was always there to give us a hand and cheer us on.

Barry was a fellow officer in the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers from 1954 to 1965. We both attended the Canadian Army Staff College 1963-65 Course where he was highly regarded for both his intellect and pleasant nature.

Uncle Barry was the most kind, thoughtful, and humorous uncle any nephew could ask for. He was a wonderful story-teller and such a great listener. He took such keen interest in our children's lives and how they were progressing through their university studies. I admired so much his well-balanced and lived life with his family and friends. Thanks Uncle Barry for all the love you gave us...you will be missed...but our memories of you will live forever! Lots of Love, Robert Blair and family.

From struggling with Barry in exercise classes and joining him over meal or drink, we know Barry as a engaged conversationalist and a man with a dry sense of humour. We will miss him and offer our support to Nicole and the family.
