Angela Maranger (née Ladouceur), affectionately known as Angie passed away peacefully at Montford Hospital on November 22, 2024, 20 days shy of her 90th birthday surrounded by her family.

Angie was a testament to the saying that to love and be loved is life’s greatest gift.

She was married to Robert Ernest Maranger until his passing on January 14, 1998. She loved him and he loved her. Through thick and thin they endured, and had a lot of fun together.

They had six children; Louis (Lise), Julie (Shannon), Robert (Yumei), Pierre (Susanne), Danny (Verena), and Roxane (Greg) who adored their parents. They provided a childhood filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love.

By 2024 the Maranger clan when counting children, grandchildren, great grand-children, husbands, wives, partners numbered well over 35.

The strong family bond they all have is in many ways thanks to Angie. She hosted up until her passing family gatherings in her home and made a point of frequently having large family parties.

Angie was extremely generous, gentle, and kind. She loved wine, bridge, her many friends, partying, and above all, her family. Her request to us with regards to the inevitability of her passing and we quote: “Don’t be sad. I’ve lived a great life”.

To think of her is to conjure a treasure trove of warm beautiful memories.

In accordance with Angie’s wishes she did not want a funeral, but a celebration of life/party. The family is inviting friends and extended family who wish to pay their respects to attend Angie’s celebration of life between the hours of 4-7 PM on December 12, 2024, at the Courtyard Marriot Ottawa East, 200 Coventry Road, Hall 118E. A brief homage to Angie will be conducted at 6 PM. At 7 PM, a more intimate family gathering will ensue.

For those wishing, donations may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or Home - Ottawa Food Bank.

Dear Friends, I am an old friend of Dan. In 1992-93,we spent a year together (officially to study German law and language, but in reality a year full of laughs, songs, drinks and parties). He stayed there and I went back home to Belgium and Luxembourg. He told me many stories about his parents and of course Angie. I met her once in N Ontario, while visiting Dan in the famous camp. A strong and wonderful person. May She rest in peace ! Eternal Memory ! Serge (Brussels)

I grew up in the same neighbourhood as the Maranger family and became close friends with Pierre, Robert and Danny… we had great laughs together. I will always remember the warm welcome and wonderful smile I received from Mrs. Maranger each and every time I visited their home.

I feel very fortunate to have known my best friend Julie’s Mom Angie. A wonderful lady full of fun and laughs. She will be missed and her spirit will live on as we enjoy our glass of wine, or two, with fond memories.
