It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Alan G. Cooper, of Manotick, on Tuesday, July 2nd, at the age of 84 years.
Alan will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years, Denyse, and his children: Scott (Veronique), Lynn, and Cheryl (Andrew). He was a cherished grandfather to Autumn, Luc (Sydney), Connor, Brandon, Jack, Hope, Anya, Levi, and Zion. He is also survived by his brother Ian (Heather) and sisters-in-law Linda and Louise.
Alan served as RCMP officer, participating in many events of historical significance. He was known for his unique approach to law enforcement. Rather than relying on force, he had a remarkable gift for disarming situations with a well-timed joke, or engaging story. Many people were surprised to learn he was in the force, as his friendly and kind nature seemed to contradict their expectations of a police officer. His colleagues and the community knew him as someone who truly cared about people and believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Beyond his service career, Alan had a passion for restoring vintage automobiles, particularly his treasured 1929 Model A Ford and 1928 Model A Ford Roadster. He was a dedicated member of the Capital A's Model A Ford Club for many years, where he found joy in helping fellow enthusiasts rebuild antique cars, bringing smiles to elderly residents in seniors' homes with special rides, and adding charm to local events with his club's beautifully restored vehicles.
Alan was an active athlete who enjoyed tennis, hockey and pickleball, staying engaged in sports well into his later years. He had a deep love for music and took great pleasure in sharing his favorite songs with family and friends—sometimes with more willing listeners than others, but always with enthusiasm and joy. His leadership qualities were evident early on, having served as class president during his high school years.
Alan was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and genuine care for others will live on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years of service.

When it comes to songs and Uncle Allan, it has to be Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan.
I think they had a dog that would go and lay on the bed whenever that song was played?
I was just a kid at the time, but oh how that has stayed pressed into my head and never left.
Playing hide and seek in the Point Claire house and being able to go from one room to the other through a closet and hiding one time in the closet beside those RCMP boots; which seemed HUGE.
Allan has left a whole lot of smiles in memory with me; always grateful for that.
He is thought of oh so fondly.
I remember Uncle Allan as always smiling and quick to laugh

I have known Al for many years as a member of the Canada's Capital As. A willing, generous and personable man always going out of his way to help the club members with guidance, wisdom and hands-on help. He has been a great personal help to me even giving needed parts and ofttimes refusing remuneration. God bless Al and his family.

I have such wonderful & fun memories of Alan …
* sitting on the floor of the Model A, in the dark, with a flashlight, while he was testing to see how fast it would go … he was SO excited. Denyse, not so much.
*Alan down in the basement @ the Point Clair house … experimenting to make the sander into a back massager … and coming back like a mad scientist. I was too scared to go down there!
* Bo Diddley & Bob Dylan - Lay lady lay (oh how I miss Betsy)
* and then there was the whole ‘earwig’ episode, when we visited with the girls. They STILL talk about that. Haha!
* great memories, fun times, so very much laughter. He will be greatly missed & fondly thought of.
Sending much love to Denyse, Scott, Lynne, Cheryl & their families.

A better brother in law could not be had. He was a father figure to me, always caring and protective. I too remember hide and seek in the Point Claire home with such fondness. Listening to all of his music choices was always fun and of course getting beaten badly at Tennis was a given! I am really glad I had a chance to spend time with him in May, what a gift that was. He will be lovingly missed by my girls as well.

To Denyse, Scott, Lynn, Cheryl and families,
I am saddened to learn of Alan’s passing. Also so very sorry that he had to endure serious health issues in his later years.
Rudy and I always enjoyed his company and visits with him usually turned into an interesting adventure, such as introducing us to the Musical Ride horses at their stables and beaver tails at the .Rideau.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all with sincere sympathy.

I have fond memories of Ford tinkering while I was over visiting and Alan was always welcoming and open to chit chatting as we came and went. Sending love and support to the entire family.

Al is a true friend and was very instrumental my Model A restoration from day one. Pam and I share the fondness of memories thinking back to our visit to Mesa AZ and being chauffeured around by Al and Denyse to various desert sites and of course; Model A part suppliers. Al kept company with the best; Joe B and Joe A who always were ready to offer a hand or an original NOS part. We shared many conversations of his working past with names that only appeared in the highest level of reports. Farewell my friend, you made a lasting impression on Pam and I. We are forever grateful to you and Denyse.
So sorry for your loss. We’re sure you have lots of good memories to help you through this difficult time. Praying for peace and comfort to engulf your whole family.
