Lynn Frances Bissett, age 78, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.
Lynn was raised in the St. Catharines area and graduated from the University of Guelph. It was there that she met Wayne Bissett and in 1969 they married, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly 60 years. They initially lived in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, where Lynn worked as a high school teacher and Wayne completed his studies at the University of Waterloo.
In 1974, Lynn and Wayne moved to Ottawa, ultimately settling in Blackburn Hamlet, a community that became central to their family life. While raising her two young sons Scott & Andrew, Lynn was also an active and caring presence in the neighborhood, volunteering in a variety of capacities, including the Canadian Cancer Society and the Block Parent program.
As her two sons grew older, Lynn rediscovered her passion for teaching. She returned to school to earn her Early Childhood Educator certification, which led to many fulfilling years as a teacher at Blackburn Hamlet Preschool. Lynn took great pride in nurturing young children and supporting their early learning with patience, warmth, and dedication.
Lynn will be tremendously missed by her devoted husband, Wayne, her sons Scott (Carla) and Andrew (Julie), and her cherished grandchildren Abigail, Isla, and Sam. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers Don (Beth) and Doug (Jan) Gayman, and her sister-in-law Pat Armstrong (Herb). Lynn was predeceased by her older sister, Andrea Rollins (Gene) and parents Robert & Joan Gayman.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Dementia Care team at Bruyère Health for their compassion, kindness, and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dementia Care at Bruyère Health or the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County would be appreciated.
Lynn will be remembered for her deep love of family, friends, and the quiet but lasting impact she made on her community.
A service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
