Beverly Denaise Brown passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and quiet grace. Beverly was the kind of woman who made people feel welcome the moment they stepped into her presence. She led with kindness, spoke from the heart, and carried her family through many of life's storms with steady hands and a spirit that never wavered.
Beverly was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt who all carry a piece of her in the stories they tell, the values she shared, and the love she poured into every relationship. Family meant everything to her. She showed up for birthdays, holidays, quick phone calls, and long conversations that stretched late into the night. She gave without expecting anything in return, and people naturally gravitated toward her steady presence.
Beverly will also be deeply missed by her coworkers and union members, who knew her as a dependable voice of support and a calm problem solver. She took pride in being there for others, whether it was helping a colleague or stepping up when her community needed her. Beyond her work, Beverly loved to volunteer. She gave her time freely, always looking for ways to lift others up and make a positive impact.
She had a soft laugh that made people smile and a straight-talking honesty that kept everyone grounded. She appreciated simple moments, celebrated the small wins, and reminded others to slow down and breathe. Her wisdom was lived, not performed, and those around her felt it.
The visitation will take place at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, located at 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa, on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow in Beechwood’s Sacred Space from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Reception will be held afterward from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Friends, loved ones, colleagues, and community members are invited to come together to honor Beverly and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Here’s a polished, respectful version you can use in an email. I kept the spirit, the honesty, and the warmth — just made it flow smoothly:
Beverly was truly one of a kind. I’m convinced she knew everyone in the city by at least one degree of separation. It was rare for me to meet someone who didn’t know her name or hadn’t been part of her world in some way. She was deeply involved in the Caribbean community, government circles, local events across Ottawa ,including Bluesfest, and surrounded herself with an incredible network of close friends she built after moving here.
She was the one friend you could say absolutely anything to, knowing she’d never judge you — but she’d always tell you the truth. That kind of honesty and loyalty is rare.
Her passing is a tremendous loss for those of us still on this side of heaven. But I’m certain she’s now reunited with her father and her recently departed mother.
Bev, you are loved. You won’t be forgotten. You touched so many lives and made such a lasting difference. Sometimes the biggest impact comes in the smallest packages.

Bev was a ray of sunshine and will be greatly missed by all of her fellow Jazzfest volunteers. It won’t be the same without her smile, her laugh, her wonderful joy.

My dear friend gone, a loss untold, In my heart, a beautiful story . I miss her touch, their lilting voice, The laughter shared, in joy we'd rejoice, A heart now silent, a love that aches, My dear friend gone, a bond that breaks. In quiet moments, I'll recall, The love and friendship we shared, through wind and squall, Yet in my heart, our bond remains, our friendship and love, unchained by pains. Till next we meet again My Dear friend.

Having known Bev for quite a few years, she's always been a quiet, cheerful and considerate individual. I was a bit apprehensive on my first meeting but was quickly drawn into a fun time with laughter and wanting to know more about me. Of course, it was returned. She made me know what it was like at Caribana. I was kept up to date with various issues being a new comer to Canada. Though miles apart, friendship and communication remained. Her last message was on the 28th October and sadly I couldn't respond. I will always remember how she made me feel welcome to her family and even though she's absent in the flesh, her spirit will be there always remembering Mommy Opal and reminding me to keep the Faith.
Rest in peace Bev and may Light Perpetual shine on you always.
May you rest, rest well. What a void you are leaving behind. I'll say it one more time, so don't you forget it: "I love you to bits!" Fly with the angels. Fly and be free. X
