Beverly Laura Roy nee Murphy, aged 68, passed peacefully on November 15, 2025, after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Andrew (Andy) Roy, her son Michael Roy, daughter Sarah Lineham (Drew) and grandson Wyatt Lineham.

Bev was devoted to her family.  She was a woman who loved fiercely, showed care through being direct and honest and was just simply fun to be around. She was an avid volunteer at the home and school association of her children, alongside her time as a figure skating coach. She also volunteered at the club and regional levels of Skate Canada. In her earlier days, she was a Canadian Ski Patroller, which is how she met Andy, patrolling at Glen Mountain. Bev was very fortunate to share her skating and skiing passions with her family.

Bev’s favorite things included her animals, baking, reading, eating fried clams in Shediac and spending time at the lake; her happy place.

Besides her children, Bev is survived by her two brothers: Ron Murphy (Sylvie) and Patrick Murphy (Carol) and two sisters: Barbara Clark and Brenda Roy (Tony). Family and Friends are invited to visit Beechwood, Cemetery, Funeral and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m.   A reception will follow. Private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the May Court Hospice.

Our families came together because of Andy and Rob. It was a wonderful and very comfortable friendship. Bev and I are both Maritimers, so that connected us right away. Then we both lived in Hudson and would spend time volunteering at Mount Pleasant school, and participating in community events. Luckily for me, Sarah and Michael enjoyed spending time with my kids who are a bit younger. Bev taught my children how to skate and she taught me how to ski. Then, of course, there was the lake. On summer evenings we would have meals together, drinking wine/ Mason Ex, and laughing. We often. shopped for groceries together, walked the aerobic corridor, and would sneak off to Mickey’s for breakfast.

It was a very easy friendship with Bev. I will remember Bev as being fun-loving with an easy laugh. We shared recipes, titles of novels, family stories, and gave each other lots of free advice. The best part of the friendship with Bev was that she was straightforward. She spoke her mind and I appreciated that.
Rob and I, Rachael and Colin, send our love during this difficult time. Our families will always be connected.

Andy:
Pete and I are so sorry to hear of your and your family's loss.
Pete first met Bev in 2016, when she was a host at Beechwood, and was touched by the kindness she showed to those around her. Know we are praying for comfort and peace over the days ahead.
