It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marie-Paule Dorilda Belanger, lovingly known as Doris, at the age of 84 on June 28, 2025, at La Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie in Gatineau, Quebec.
Born on June 6, 1941, in Saint-Gabriel, Rimouski, Doris was the beloved daughter of Lenoie Morrissette and Odilon Belanger. She grew up in Rimouski, where she met her lifelong partner, Gilles Breton. Their journey together was filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their son, Yvan Breton.
Doris was a dedicated homemaker for many years and later worked in various roles in the retail sector. She found her joy in the simple things: tending to her garden, caring for animals, and sharing her love through home-cooked meals and warm hospitality. Her home was always open, her smile always genuine, and her heart endlessly generous.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Gilles, her son Yvan, and daughter-in-law Brenda, and her cherished grandchildren, Ross, Raeanne, and Rachelle Breton. She also leaves behind her dear sister Marthe and niece Marie-Claude.
Doris will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the way she always put others before herself. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
A funeral service will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery Chapel in Ottawa, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10am. Interment and reception to follow.
In place of flowers, donations in Doris’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or La Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie.
