Following a period of illness, Julie Kui Hing Tam passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025 in Ottawa with her husband of 44 years Steve Cheung Foon Kung and loving daughter Kimberly Pui Mon Kung by her side.

Julie was well liked by all who knew her. She enjoyed eating ice cream, was a very attentive listener, very protective of her loved ones and especially enjoyed spoiling them. She will be greatly missed.

Julie was predeceased by parents Yee Chap and Lai Har; and brother Ronald. She is survived by sisters May and June ; brother Randall and sister in-law Megan; nephews Bryce, Kyle, Parker; and niece Laila.

The family would like to thank Dr. Maheffy, and the rest of the medical staff at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for taking tremendous care of her.  No less important, the family thanks all the personal support workers, especially Lucky and Zoraida, who helped Julie lived a full life.

A Private Visitation to be held on May 13, 2025 at 12:00PM at Beechwood Cemetery on 280 Beechwood Ave., Vanier, ON K1L 8A6. In lieu of flowers, please donate to CHEO and University of Ottawa Heart Institute

Have a pleasant journey. Life is like a long-distance bus ride. When you arrive at your stop, you get off the bus and return to paradise, and the journey is over. The length of the journey is not important, as long as life has a process that is worthy of pride and happiness. It is rare to have a companion in old age. You have a good husband who cares about you very much, which is already the best and perfect life. You are in heaven, in paradise, a happy immortal, free from the troubles and sorrows of the world. We will miss you forever.
