morissette

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Morissette, on January 4, 2025, at the age of 78.

Predeceased by his wife, Jo-Anne(née Rayner), he leaves behind his son, Joseph (Erin Lawless), as well as his two grandchildren, Lloyd Morissette and Rosemary MacDonald. Predeceased by his parents Annette (née Legault), Picard Morissette and his daughter, Marie-Isabelle Morissette (Ryan MacDonald).

He will be dearly remembered by his sisters France( Maurice Lamarche), Claude (Jacques Savard), and Julie (Gilles Brunet). Dear uncle to nieces and nephews; Marie-Claude and Luc Savard, Julien and Daniel Lamarche, and Daphné Desrochers who will forever hold dear the memory of Louis's boundless generosity. His aunt, Marie-Paule Rochon (née Legault), and his cousins will forever cherish the countless precious memories they shared with Louis, while the Rayner family will hold him in fond and loving remembrance.  He will be deeply missed by his many friends, whose lives he touched with kindness, wit, and unwavering friendship.

Louis enjoyed a successful career in medicine in Shawville and Ottawa-Gatineau, where he was highly regarded by his many patients. A gifted pianist, he delighted family and friends with his varied repertoire. He was a great lover of classical music, particularly opera, as well as rock and roll and the blues. He had a profound passion for literature, with a particular admiration for Shakespeare, and was deeply engaged in politics as well as ancient and contemporary history. Louis also found great joy in equestrian sports, skiing, camping, and, most of all, traveling. His love for gardening and the companionship of his many beloved dogs was a testament to his appreciation for life's simple yet meaningful pleasures.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital and Greystone Village Retirement.

Friends and family are invited to pay respects on Monday January 20th, 2025, at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00p.m.

The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday January 21, 2025 at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Church (435 Montreal Road) at 10:30a.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Serenity House Ottawa.

Louis became a consultant at a difficult moment in my life. Over the years that I was privileged to be connected to Louis, he shared generously of his wisdom and sense of humour. I will miss him.

Dear friend and colleague. You gave so much to the addictions community. I admired your fight for your own recovery, and you success, in spite of all the losses. You attitude and grace were so wonderful Louis. I will miss you!
