We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Italo Roberto Di Saverio. After a long courageous battle with cancer, Italo passed away peacefully at home with his family close by his side on December 12, 2024, at the age of 66. Italo was a kind, generous and caring soul, always considering others before himself. His absence has left a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
Italo leaves behind his wife and best friend of 41 years, Lori Di Saverio (née Sommerfeld) and their two sons Nicholas and Christopher. He is predeceased by his father Attilio Di Saverio and survived by his dear mother Rosina Di Saverio, his brothers Peter Di Saverio (Joanne) and Pat Di Saverio (Meghan), his nephews William, Thomas, Sam and his niece Sophia, as well as his closest and lifelong friend Brian Gore. His beloved dog Scoobie and quaker parrot Bella were also family to him. They too will miss his loving presence.
A special thanks to all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital (5th Floor NW) who provided exceptional, professional and compassionate care to Italo for 4 weeks as well as the team of incredible palliative care doctors and nurses who provided valuable care to both Italo and his family in his last days at home. Also, particular gratitude is extended to Dr. Vickers of the Cancer Center at the Ottawa General Hospital for his caring and guidance over the last ten years.
Friends and guests are invited to join the family in a Celebration of Life for Italo at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday December 21st, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
In Memory of Italo, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or Italo’s favourite charity The Orphaned Wildlife.

My heart breaks knowing what a great man Mr.D was and how much his little gestures of kindness and generosity meant to so many. Growing up and visiting the Disaverio household there was always so much joy and warmth from the whole family, but in some ways it started with Mr. D. I'm so sorry I stayed out of touch for so long only to find that such a tragic change happened. My heart goes out to Nick, Chris and of course Mrs.D. We shared a lot of laughs and now we share the memory of Mr.Disaverio too. If only we had more time for more laughs and memories, but the ones we had that were always just simple and wonderful will stay with me forever.

Rosina and family , our most deepest of condolences for the passing of your loving son, husband and father.
As the angels of heaven have led him home, may you all be in peace knowing he is reunited with his father.
Sentiti condoglianze da noi e anche da mamma Ada.
Nick, Chris, Lori, and the rest of the Di Saverio family - my deepest condolences to you all.
I didn't have many interactions with Italo, but I will forever remember him snuggled up with Scoobie on the couch while we had band practice in the basement. He was clearly very kind and deeply supportive of Nick's passion for music to put up with all that noise in the evenings!
Sending big hugs
