SAIKALEY, Eddie – Passed away at Perley Health in Ottawa on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at the age of 86 surrounded by his family. Cherished husband of Elham (nee Karkache). Beloved Father of Andrew and Annette (Al Charron). Loving grandfather to Rylan. Survived by his brothers Moufid (Najwa), Philip (Najat), Joseph and Michael and his best friends Gina and Barrie, and their son Bob (and family) who was like another son. Son of the late George and Toefeida Saikaley. Predeceased by his brothers Shakib (Pat), Saaman (Ann), Labib (Gina), Elias, Daniel (Heather) and his sister Linda.
Eddie suffered a stroke in Florida almost 10 years ago, and came back to Ottawa where he was cared and loved for at home, and eventually at the Perley. He was a hard-working man, who loved his family and friends many of who frequented the Eldorado restaurant or the backyard pool. In retirement, he took great pleasure in reading, traveling and staying fit by walking and working out, in particular cycling short and long distances. Jido loved his only grandchild Rylan and his smile was the brightest around him.
Eddie will also be dearly missed by the Karkache family, many nieces, nephews and close friends. Thank you to the front-line staff on Ottawa 2 west at Perley Health for the care and support over the past 3 years. Big Ed will be missed but fondly remembered.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) on Friday, December 20th, 2024 for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in Beechwood’s Sacred Space at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Eddie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada | Home or to St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Sending our love and prayers to Tante Elham and the family. I’ll always remember visiting Ottawa and the warmth Uncle Eddie shared. He was so kind and welcoming, and his memory will stay with me forever. Christ is Risen!

He was a great man. He was a Godfather to my three older sisters. They would call him (Shpino) which means Godfather, that he was very loving to everyone, I would call him Shpino, even though he was not my Godfather. He will be greatly missed. Memory eternal and God bless.
