Marilyn passed peacefully at Saint Vincent Hospital on November 15, 2024. She was comforted by family and friends.
Marilyn was born in Ottawa and lived and worked there for many years before moving to California. She lived in La Jolla and loved her time there. She returned to Ottawa and worked for Carleton University before retiring.
Marilyn had an incredible sense of humour. You could count on her to make you laugh at some crazy story of something that happened to her. There was no end of them. And there is no end to the number of wonderful friends she had. Too many to list here but you are all remembered and loved. It is a true testament to what a good friend she was. Her recent 86th birthday was celebrated with so many cards and warm wishes. She will be truly missed.
Marilyn loved the Kennedys, figure skating, cats and cheeseburgers.
Marilyn was a caring stepmother to Danielle Smith (Joey) and Pierre Levesque (Madeleine), and beloved Nanny to Shawn (Jen), Jessica, Ashley (Mark), Matthew (Amanda) and Tyler (Tasha). She had many great grandchildren and was crazy about them all.
She was a very special person to her cousin, Paula Melville, and her spouse Jim McKendry who were there for her in the last difficult months. She was also cared for deeply by her cousins, Robert, John (Joni) and Peter (Jennifer).
We would like to thank the staff at Saint Vincent Hospital for their care and support. They are amazing people.
At Marilyn’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service. She will be laid to rest in Beechwood Cemetery with family.

Marilyn was my secretary for 3 years in the early eighties at General Atomics in San Diego. The position we had was created from 3 outcast divisions that no one wanted. Needless to say, we had a challenge get them to work together and get the job done. Marilyn made it happen by her wit and charm. She had my back so many times that I never knew about. From this we became real good friends in addition to to being work colleagues. Really good friends are hard to come by but Marilyn was one of mine. I still miss your laughter. Rest in peace; you earned it.

While I did not have the pleasure of meeting Marilyn , I have a sense of her amazing personality from her obituary. My sister Sheila Gorski spoke so highly of her courage in face of her her health challenges. Sheila so enjoyed her friendship and visiting her while in care . my condolences to her friends and family.

Marilyn was my neighbor on the 11th floor in the Driveway building. We shared our love of dogs/cats..she was always upbeat. Our best and most memorable laugh was when Donald Trump sent out two checks to US citizens during COVID. What a special lady.
