We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of William Fletcher on Monday, September 23rd, 2024. Beloved son of Wallace Fletcher and stepmom Wendy Trudel. Cherished brother of Kaitlyn Fletcher and stepsister Caitrin Lagace. Grandson of George Fletcher and the late Denise Fletcher. Nephew of John Fletcher and Kim Fletcher, and cousin to Kelsey Fletcher and Megan Fletcher. Known for his loyalty and kind heart, William positively touched the lives of everyone around him.
Born in Ottawa, William proudly served his country with honor as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He was soon to become an EO Technician, and he always embodied the values of honor and selflessness as he progressed in his career. To his family and friends, he was a constant source of love and support, always offering his caring spirit and enthusiasm for life.
In addition to being a natural leader, William always provided a helping hand and never turned down an opportunity to volunteer when needed. He had a strong heart and spirit to always complete his work to the highest level possible, and once focused on a task, William would be unstoppable until it was completed successfully. William had a zest for life, and his smile and laughter were infectious.
William was an amazing person, and although his life was tragically taken from him, he always prioritized taking care of everyone around him and working hard to serve others to the fullest extent of his capacity. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and always in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, October 10th, 2024 at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) from 11-1pm, followed by the funeral service and burial in the National Military Cemetery of Canada.
For those who wish to make a memorial donation, it can be made in William’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society in honor of his loved ones who have passed from cancer. Please consider sending any floral arrangements directly to Beechwood Cemetery.
