Passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Saturday, November 2, 2024; at the age of 88. Yem Han was born in Canton China on May 26th, 1936. She was married to Len Fong and joined motherhood by the age of 18. For 10 years, she raised 3 children, with her mother-in-law Sui Yee Fong in Hong Kong while Len was in Canada alone to support the family and establish himself. In 1965, the family was united in Ottawa.
She was exceptionally generous and noted for her hard work. She ran a restaurant by herself. She had leadership roles in the community associations and was famous for her culinary expertise far and wide. Despite her limited education, she inspired and supported her children to advance their education. She was one of the first Chinese women in Ottawa to obtain her driver’s license and was the primary driver for her numerous mahjong friends.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Ken Yee), Ken (Elizabeth Kusey), Ben (Souad Ben Ayyoub), Angela. Grandchildren Brandon, Jenna (Jesper), Bianca, Corina (Josh), Bensun (Dominique), Mitchell and great grandson Cailum.
Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) for a Visitation on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 9 to 11:00 a.m., followed by an interment at 11:00 a.m. in Beechwood Cemetery.

Our deepest condolences to the family.
Dear Aunt, you opened up a whole new world for me, and I will forever be grateful. We are so glad you had the chance to meet our kids, and we will always cherish that memory. Blessings and godspeed.
Our beloved 姑姐 in the Seto clan, who brought us to the Great White North on Nov 12, 1980. She gave me the name Thomas, but I couldn't spell it properly on my first day at Merivale PS in Nepean, so now my first name appears to be Spanish or European but it's definitely the only one for Chinese. She is not your average aunt, and in my opinion, she is the most generous and adored Seto in 塘美村 赤水镇 Kaiping, Guangdong!!
