Charles, born on November 17, 1962, in Montréal, QC, passed away peacefully in Ottawa, ON at 05:26 on July 7, 2024, at the age of 61.

First born of Edouard Rivet and Louise Baillargeon, he leaves behind his adored wife Rana Ipek Dincoy, his daughters Jasmine and Leyla, his sister Julie (Michael), his nephews Zachary and Elliot, his Godmother Nicole, his sister-in-law Chala, his nephew Logan and his entire extended family and many dear friends.

Charles served in the Primary Reserve Infantry Regiment Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal (Fus MR), 34th Groupe-brigade of Canada, (1981-1983) where he would become 2nd Lieutenant. He graduated from École Polytechnique (1986), and subsequently worked in the field of information technology for over three decades. He had a strong sense of adventure and loved to travel. Having visited 15 countries across 4 continents in his lifetime, he was dubbed “the international man of I.T.” by those closest to him.

Charles was passionate about the natural world, salsa dancing with his wife, photography, modern art, science fiction, gastronomy and fine wine. He loved his family above all else. He will be remembered for the multitudes he contained, his protective nature, warm heart and high intellect.

Thank you to the Chartwell New Edinburgh Square team , Montfort Hospital staff (Wing C, third floor), and Cleophas and Rudy, from whom he received exceptional care.

A Celebration of Charles's Life will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON) on July 27, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be Words of Remembrance shared at 3:30 p.m.
