It is with very heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our Jamie, cherished son of Geoff Erskine and Barbara Joe, and brother of Graham (Claire Burke) and Jennifer (Peter Blouw). His loss is also profoundly felt by his grandparents, Bill and June Joe, and Blair (late Lynn) Erskine and his adoring aunts and uncles and many cousins.  He will also be sadly missed by his Joe, Erskine and Cheng extended families, across the world. Jamie was a close and loyal friend to many in Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Victoria.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jamie attended Elgin, Hopewell, and Lisgar schools. He developed a keen interest in style and fashion, earning his Diploma in Fashion Management from George Brown College in Toronto and working for high end fashion stores including Holt Renfrew and Yves Saint Laurent for several years. He then returned to Ottawa to be closer to family and chart a new path.

Jamie filled his life with many activities, including hockey, sailing, baseball, volleyball, golf, skateboarding, rock climbing, skiing, pool, video games, photography, cottage life, finding great food, and so much more. His love of music continued to be a big part of his life, enjoying concerts, festivals and DJ’ing with friends, as well as creating his own music.  He will be forever remembered for his warm smile that made everyone feel welcome and loved, his kind and caring heart, and his fun spirit of living life for today.

Family and friends are invited to Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON) for a Visitation on Thursday June 20, 2024, from 6 to 8pm and on Friday June 21, 2024, from 12 noon until the time of Service at 1 p.m. in Beechwood’s Sacred Space followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations to organizations supporting Health and Wellness would be appreciated, including The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, The Royal Ottawa, Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services or any other group you support.

May his smile live on in all of us.

Jamie was an amazing man. When he joined our friend group he welcomed us with open arms just as much as we did he. He was always there for a conversation, a laugh, a good game of skipbo or jenga. He is already missed so so much.

Sending all my love to Jennifer, Barbara, Geoff, and Graeme as well as to Victoria and all the rest of your family. Although I didn't know Jamie well personally, he is a part of the many fond memories I have of time spent in your home and with your family. I cannot fathom the hole that Jamie's death must leave in your hearts.

Barbara, Jennifer and family,
We were so sad to hear about the loss of Jamie. We always appreciated the welcome of friends to your home and to share some of the same seasons of parenting our kids together. We send thoughts for peace and strength for this painful time for your immediate and extended families.

From the very early days of spending summers side by side sailing at the GRYC, and throughout high school, Jamie was always a bright, positive force in my life. His memory is something I’ll hold close, knowing it will continue to bring light into my life and the lives of many others. My thoughts are with his family and all those to whom he meant so much.

Thank you, Jamie, for playing in countless Peewee, Bantam, Midget and tournament games that brought joy to everyone.

You will be missed.

I went to Elgin Street with Jamie and he was one of my closest friends all throughout those years and my first crush. We lost touch after then but I have nothing but fond memories of him throughout classes, school plays, sporting events, recess and birthday parties. He was always someone that I looked up to and I was excited to see him at school everyday. Graham and my brother were also good friends at Lisgar at the time and I always felt extra cool that the four of us had that connection growing up. I’m incredibly heartbroken for his family and friends. He was such a light in my life as a child.

So much love and my deepest condolences.

Geoff and Barb - My heart is broken to hear of your loss. The testimonials speak to how loved your son Jamie was by friends and family. There are no words sufficient to ease your grief - but please know you have my love and sympathy. As well, sending strength and love to Jennifer and Graham on the loss of their brother. Karen
