It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Gordon (née Texeira) on January 3, 2024.
Survived and loved by her devoted husband Colin and four children Zoë Restorick, Marcel Gordon (Gloria Cappelli), Alex Gordon (Sophia Goygon), and Valerie Phillips (Duane Schippers). Marjorie (aka Gran) will be fondly missed by her grandchildren Benjamin, Brennan, Quincy, Liam, and Emily. She will be missed and remembered by her nieces and nephews John, Joan, Annabella, and Jim. She is predeceased by her parents Rose and Valerian Texeira as well as her siblings Terrence, Louis, Doris, and Pat.
Marjorie was born and raised in Kolar Gold Fields, India. She studied and worked as a teacher in New Delhi before making the decision to immigrate to Canada. In doing this, she provided a better life for her children and grandchildren while supporting other members of the family who also settled in Canada.
Marjorie was happiest with either a baby or dog in her lap. She loved gardening and watching birds in her garden but most of all, she loved her family. Her greatest joy was becoming the proud grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren. Marjorie lived a life dedicated to the service of others. She touched the lives of countless children through her work as a daycare supervisor, as a volunteer with the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, through her work with the Ottawa Catholic School Board as well as a community sponsor of refugees through her work with the Church. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
The family is so grateful for the wonderful and amazing care provided by the staff at the Garry J. Armstrong long-term care home for the past eight years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, starting at 11 am followed by a ceremony at 1 pm and burial, reception to follow at the Beechwood reception hall. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa at https://cafott.ca/.

I worked at Borden Farm with Marjorie for a year then years later when I became Supervisor at St . Luke’s I had the joy of having her grandson Benjamin there. I enjoyed regularly speaking to Marjorie and Valerie on many occasions. Marjorie loved spending time with the children and their families. My deepest sympathies to you all. Keep your memories close to your heart ❤️

Sincere condolences. We were neighbors of Marjorie & Colin for many years. Marjorie was a good friend of Sandi. We often seen Marjorie out tending her flower garden in the front yard.

Marjorie, we have been friends since we were 4, 5 years old. A life-long friendship. 6 years ago I went back to KGF, saw our old homes, the mythan where we played every evening and thought about all our friends.
My deepest sympathy to Colin, Zoe, Valerie, Alex and Marcel. I will always remember Marjorie with warmth and love.

My deepest condolences to the entire family...
I worked with Marjorie first as my supervisor and then colleague. I will always remember the love she had for the children and families. She was always so gentle and kind. Her biggest treasure was her family, I remember how she would beam whenever she talked about them.
My condolences to the family on the loss of a special lady.
