It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Kwok Chun (Lorne)Chung on New Year’s Day at the age of 90.
He is dearly missed by his wife Yim Lan (Mary) of almost 60 years, and his children, his two sons and his daughter whom presently in Ottawa are Kent (Sui Ling) and Kim (Elroy). He is blessed with many grandchildren including Jonathan, Michael, Sara, Adam, all whomhe is so proud of. He will also be missed by his many siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born in GuangDong China, Kwok Chun was the eldest of five brothers and the youngest is his sister. He journeyed to North America in his youth to establish better opportunities with a dream for a family in his future. Among some of his many adventurous travels, he lived and worked in Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Fort William, Montreal and Cornwall to name a few, before planting permanent roots in Ottawa. Working in a variety of jobs especially in the restaurant industry and with very long hours, his strength and resilience in character is driven by his strong sense of responsibility and values that has been instilled into his children and grandchildren. We fondly remember Lorne as a great cook and an animated storyteller who loves road trips, family gatherings, and church socials. He forever holds a special place in all our hearts.
Friends and family are invited to visit at the Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) on January 11th with visitation from 5:00pm-7:00pm, and on January 12th with a funeral service at 10:00am and burial to follow. As a humble and practical man, we know Lorne would prefer donations be made to The Montfort Hospital.
