With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ashley on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at the age of 39. Surrounded by her loving parents, Daniel and Cheryl, her sister Robyn and fiancé Chris, Ashley’s suffering has finally ended.

Ashley was always a fighter, never giving up. Starting with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, Ashley dealt with serious medical issues her entire life. From early on to her greatest battle with metastatic breast cancer in March 2023, she never quit the fight.

She underwent many types of treatment to beat this horrific disease and did so with bravery, integrity and grace. She so desperately wanted more time with her family and friends (as we all did, too), and was willing to undergo more chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments to continue fighting.

Ashley’s memory will live on through her parents, sister, future brother-in-law, extended family, friends, and her soon-to-be nephew.

Celebration of Life will be held for Ashley on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON. The Celebration will begin at 10:00 am with a service for family and friends to share memories, followed by a reception.

The family kindly requests donations to the Diabetes Association of Canada and/or to Breast Cancer Canada, instead of flowers.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

Ashley was very special for her parents and many others. She was such a great athlete in many sports especially basketball ,softball, golf and skiing. I was able to watch some games. Ashley leaves many good memories for many.

I’m so sorry for your loss Robyn and family. Though I never met Ashley, I know the warmth and light you bring to everyone around you Robyn and I’m sure your sister felt that, even on the most difficult of days. May you continue to feel each other’s presence for always.

Dear Dan, Cheryl and Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Ashley's passing and are in awe of her courage.
She was always such a positive person, always smiling.
We had the pleasure of having been able to spend time with her on the pickleball court.
She is now at peace and you can look back at all the wonderful memories that you have.

I offer my sincere condolences on the passing of such a shining light and truly lovely person. During the year and a half that I worked with Ashley, she brought passion and commitment to a stressful, 24/7 work environment, the consummate team player. Her bright smile and infectious laughter helped everyone who knew her through each day. Rest in Peace Ashley…

Ashley was on the very first team that welcomed me to the Department of National Defence well over a decade ago, and on the very last one before I recently left. I've always admired her for how levelheaded, resilient and kind she was. I feel lucky to have known her and, right now, I am heartbroken for her family, friends and anyone else struggling to say goodbye so soon. My heartfelt condolences.
