It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our much loved Mike, on Monday October 23 at the Ottawa General Hospital, with family by his side.
He leaves behind his beloved spouse Cindy Delage, his three sisters Barbara O’Connor, Carol Rodrigue (Don) and Diane Dubois (Joey), who will miss their big brother greatly, three step-sons Mike, Dave and Geoff Delage, seven grand children, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Lilianne Desjardins and Desmond O’Connor.
Mike was an amazing volunteer for many causes, including the May Court Hospice, and the Supper Table at St. Joseph’s Church. He will be well remembered as “Poppy the clown” at many city parades and at CHEO., and as an active member of two choirs.
We give special thanks to St. Patrick’s Home where he spent almost two years, and to the Family Medicine staff at the General Hospital.
There was a private burial at Beechwood Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass to Celebrate Michael's life will be held at St. Joseph's Parish, 174 Wilbrod Street, Ottawa, on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at Noon. It will be followed by some singing by the two choirs, Sunset Singers and Big Soul Project, that Michael loved being part of, and a reception.
Donations to Parkinson Canada Ottawa or St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa would be most appreciated.

Noela, Evalyn, William and Charlotte will remember their great uncle Michael as a kind and funny man! Always laughing, smiling and making jokes (or making the Donald Duck sounds).
So sad to hear of his passing. He will be missed.
