Died peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital on 17 September, 2023 in her 77th year. Robin was the beloved wife and best friend of Graham for 55 years. Loving mother of Simon (Drew) of Halifax, and Tim of Montreal. Dear daughter of the late Walter and Pamela Pacholka of Beaconsfield, QC. Dear sister of Michael (Urszula) of Rabka, Poland, Anne of Montreal and Jim (Teresa) of Larchmont, NY. Fond sister-in-law to Hartley McMahon of Dunwoody, GA and Bromont, QC. Also survived by nieces and nephews Rachel, Larry, Lily and Arlen. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Jane, and her nephew Adam.
Born in Vancouver to a military family, Robin grew up in Air Force communities throughout Canada and abroad before settling in Montreal and obtaining an English literature degree from Marianopolis College. She married her dear Graham in 1968. The family later spent many happy years in Ottawa where Robin worked for the Federal Government as an IT guru. She loved to entertain and was an intrepid traveler. Robin leaves behind a large and long-standing group of close friends.
A memorial service, burial and reception will be held at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa on Friday, 13 October, 2023 at 10:00 am. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Ottawa Hospital (General campus) and the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital for their compassionate care over the past two years. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, the family would dearly appreciate donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, or the Bruyère Foundation.
