It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rick (Fredrick James) Viau on Monday, March 27th, 2023, at the age of 60. Rick was father of Devon Viau and husband of L.J. (Clogg) Viau. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Viau and Florence (Claydon) Viau. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Bob Viau (Pat), sisters Sandy Primeau (John), Debbie Lackey, and Bev Moreau (Lawrence), nephews and nieces, and closest friends, Jon Doyle, Keith Bulmer, and Peter Kelly.

Rick ran his tree and hedge trimming business in the Ottawa area for over 35 years. He had a passion for creating beauty for his clients and in his own backyard where he enjoyed socializing and playing guitar. The backyard was a gathering spot for Devon and his friends. Many competitive games of croquet and bocce were played there.

Rarely one to sit for long, Rick could often be found building, renovating, fixing, or macgyvering things. He also loved to fish, scuba dive, laugh, cheer for the Sens, spend time with his friends, curse at bad drivers, and have a good time. He lived his life his way.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held in early summer in his beautiful back yard. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to L.J. or Devon.

A special thank you to the health care providers in Emergency and D3 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.

Dear Rick,

Love you brother! I am so glad I had you in my life! All things happen for a reason, I'm still searching! 1082 Gladstone is where we grew up, right across 1085 at my mom's! You, Rob and I, kings of our domain!
I'm so happy to have spoken with you on your birthday! I was looking forward to getting together again this summer, now we're all searching!
I will miss you dearly my friend, but I console myself with the memory of you.
L.J, Devon and to the whole Viau family, my sincere condolences!
I hope to see you all soon!
All my love!
Mario

My deepest sympathy to you LJ and Devon. What I remember most of RIck is that he was always laughing and we always had fun when he was around. Sending big hugs and I will be there on June 24th, Phil will try to get away from work.
