John passed away peacefully with his children by his side on March 8, 2023 in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 85.

Beloved Husband of the late Raymonde Evans (née Bourcier). Loving Father of John-David (Rhonda) and Anika (Jacques Bruyère).  Cherished Grandad of Sarah Evans, Tyler Evans and Sophie Bruyère.  Dear Brother of Lily Gayleard and Alfred Evans.  Predeceased by his parents John Sveinn Evans and Sarah "Sadie" (née Wood), and his sisters Benita Martinenko, Louise Sutherland and Susie Evans.  Fondly remembered by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends.

John was born and raised in Selkirk, Manitoba.  He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at age 21 and retired in 1985.  He continued to serve his country as a civilian with the Department of National Defence until his retirement in 1999.  John was a family man, avid gardener, animal lover, and sports fan.

John will be remembered as a kind, generous, selfless and loving soul who was always quick to help those in need around him.

In keeping with John's wishes, the cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 400 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa, on Friday, June 9th at 10:15 a.m.  The family will receive condolences starting at 10:00 a.m.  Internment with military honours will follow the Funeral Service at the National Military Cemetery, located at Beechwood Cemetery.  For those who wish to attend the internment, please arrive at the main office of Beechwood Cemetery no later than 11:30 a.m.  A reception will follow the internment and will take place at the parish hall of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.  

Rest in peace Dad/Grandad, knowing we love you.

Dear Annika and John David,
We were very good friends of Raymond and John and shared many good times together including travels in both Mexico and Europe. John was a quiet, honest, respectful man who loved his family above all else.
John and Raymond were very close friends and we miss them. You have our most sincere condolences.
