At age 83, Rochelle passed away peacefully at Cité Parkway Retirement Residence in the presence of her loved ones.

The daughter of the late Harry Crouch and Germaine Robert of Vanier (formerly Eastview). Predeceased by her first husband Jean Lafontaine and her brother Kendall Crouch. Loving wife of Hubert Dubois; beloved mother of Lyse (Lester), Michelle (Greg) and Charlynne (Kurt); dear grandmother of Rémy, Kyomi and Danielle. Survived by sister Lynne (Hans); sister-in-law Anne; brother-in-law Edouard (Marguerite); stepdaughter Marie-Josée; niece Nicole, nephews Marc, Ian, and Derek, and their families.

Rochelle was born and raised in Vanier where she attended elementary and secondary school. She started her teaching career after receiving her teaching certificate from the Normal School at the University of Ottawa. Mid-career, while continuing to teach and to raise her family, she returned to university part-time and earned a BA in philosophy, followed by an MEd in psychopedagogy. Rochelle was devoted to teaching French immersion at the elementary school level. Her dedication to her students was the hallmark of her career.

Rochelle’s compassion, generosity and sense of humour permeated every aspect of her life. She forged many lasting friendships and had varying interests including artisanal projects, genealogy, music, reading, gardening, birding, travelling, and dancing. All who met her were enriched by the experience of knowing her.

We extend a special thank you to the staff at Cité Parkway, as well as to Rochelle’s private caregivers and her doctors. We are grateful for the care they took with our precious Rochelle.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a Gathering of Remembrance on Sunday April 30th from 1pm to 4pm at the Reception Room, Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue. Masking strongly recommended to protect our vulnerable guests. A private service and interment will follow at a later date.

For those who wish, in memoriam donations can be made to The Ottawa Mission or the Ottawa Food Bank, two of Rochelle’s favourite charities, or to a charity of your choosing.

Cher Hubert,
