Passed on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Ottawa Hospital – General Campus, at the age of 87.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 65 Years, Charlotte Marr (nee Lavoie), as well as his sons, Jean-Pierre & Eric and his daughter, Michele Maidment.  He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Bruce joined the RCMP on March 11, 1955.  He began his recruit training at RCMP Depot Division, Regina where he spent six months, followed by three months at “N” Division in Ottawa (Rockcliffe).  Following his graduation, he was transferred to the Musical Ride and took part in a tour of the British Isles including England, Ireland and Scotland as well as numerous locations across Canada and the USA.

He was posted to Porcupine Plains "F" Div. in 1957.  He took his discharge in Feb. 1958, and joined the Prince Albert City Police. 6 months later he joined the Regina City Police.  He re-engaged with RCMP in May 1961 and was transferred to "A" Div.  He worked in the Traffic Section as well as performing guard duties at the Prime Minister’s residence, the Governor General’s residence, the Royal Canadian Mint and Parliament Hill.  He was transferred to HQ in the early 70's and worked as a Systems Analyst, VIP Security and finally with the Security Engineering Branch. He retired to pension at the rank of Sergeant on August 18,1988.

Visitation and a get together shall take place at Beechwood Cemetery on May 13, 2023 between 13:00 & 15:00 Hrs.  The Inurnment will follow at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donation be made to the Ottawa Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, or to a Charity of your choosing.
