It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Carol Ann Bell (nee Hatcher) of Ottawa on February 3, 2023 in the Ottawa Hospital at the age of 76.

Carol Ann was born in Sydney Nova Scotia on May 23, 1946 and moved to Kinburn Ontario with her family in 1955. Carol lived most of her adult life in the city of Ottawa.

Carol Ann was employed by the Ottawa Carleton School Board and was a devoted and caring teacher for many years.

Family was extremely important, and she is survived by her daughter Lisa of Alberta and her son Shane (Theresa) of Ottawa. Her grandchildren Tyla (Christian), Jumal, Alayah, Stephanie, and Austin; Matteo is her only great grandchild and Carol Ann loved being his GG.

Carol Ann has one sister Sandra Smith (Lyle) and one niece Sonya Smith (Todd).

Over the years Carol Ann had made many good friendships that lasted her lifetime. She was an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player. She attained the rank of silver life master. She will be very much missed by the bridge community.

Carol Ann always had a passion for dancing of all types but, with her friend Carlos she joined a square dance club and had the opportunity to visit other clubs throughout the area.

An avid traveler, Carol had been to Italy in the very recent months before her passing. She had a special group that were always planning an adventure somewhere and Carol was usually game.

Carol is predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and John (Jack) Hatcher.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends and Family are invited the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, on Saturday, May 27, 2023 for a Celebration of Life at 10:00AM.

I have fond memories of Carol Ann. As roommates on our trip to China, we had many laughs and long talks as we explored that historic country. Rest peacefully, my friend.

I miss you Carol, your laugh, your curiosity, your smile. Thank you to her family for sharing her with the bridge community. We had some great fun, but I hadn't seen Carol for a few years thanks to covid. I am so sad to hear of Carol's passing.
