Bonnie passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 at La Maison des Collines In Wakefield, Quebec after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ian Hamilton, her step-sons Shawn (Tanya), Matt (Sonja), Nick (Diana), her sister Debbie Spencer (John), her niece Lindsay Armstrong (Greg) and her cousin Wendy Lummis. Grammy “B” will be missed by her grandchildren, Jack, Jordan, Sarah, Ryder, Brody and her grand niece, August.
Bonnie’s positive energy was felt far and wide, whether it be during her career at CSIS, on the golf course, the mahjong table or in the boxing ring. Throughout her life she made many friends whom she cherished deeply. Bonnie was a consummate host, treating all to wonderful home cooked meals ensuring that no one ever left unsatisfied! Her pies and birthday cakes will be missed by many. In later years Bonnie’s love of life led her to circumnavigate the globe - continuing to make friends everywhere she went, on safari in South Africa, travelling the Silk Road in China or enjoying a seaside glass of wine (or two) in Dubrovnik.
Friends and family may visit the Beechwood Cemetery from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on May 26, 2023 for a Celebration of Life, with words of remembrance from the family at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to boxing4 health (boxing4health.com) to help provide essential support services for people with Parkinson’s disease. This was a cause - and a community- that Bonnie cared for deeply.
The family would like to thank all friends and Skyridge neighbours who channelled their positive energies to Bonnie over the course of the last few weeks as well as to the staff of La Maison des Collines who were kind and gentle in ensuring that Bonnie was comfortable while she fought this disease with dignity, on her terms.

I fondly recall the days in TA/CT when Bonnie would chase Bill Hardiman and I around our small briefing room with Tom Boeckner in tow. Bonnie was a beautiful fun loving person. A real character and a pleasure to work with. Her passing is heart breaking - my sincere condolences to her family.

On behalf of myself and the Waring family, we were all saddened to hear of Bonnie's passing. Bonnie was a very dear friend of our mother, Esther Waring, and an important part of the Skyridge community. She was a warm, kind and generous person.
We send Ian and their whole family our deepest condolences and much love.
