It is with great sadness, but with gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Robert C. Sabourin in Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Jennie (born Harfitt), father to Julie, David, and Paul, and devoted Grandpère to Stephen, Tonya, Bryanne, Jessica, and Alexa.
Born December 14, 1935 in the small town of Ripon, Quebec, he was a son to Donaldo and Gilberte, and brother to Lise, Richard, Michel, Alain, Louis, and Charles. He served his country with dedication for 31 years retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer from the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1985. He spent the majority of his career as a Flight Engineer aboard the C130 Hercules. He worked another 13 years in the Federal Public Service before retiring for good to spend more time at the campground with his family. He remained a dedicated volunteer within his community often spending time at the Cumberland Food Bank, Divine Infant Parish, and the Ottawa Shepherds of Good Hope.
He will be remembered for his generous heart, colourful commentary, and loyalty to friends and family. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at Divine Infant Parish on February, 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Orléans Branch 632. In his honour, memory, and respect, please donate to the Ottawa Shepherds of Good Hope or Ottawa Food Bank.
