“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Philippe Kanaan on January 16th, 2023, at the age of 89. Beloved Husband of Nadia Kanaan (née Sfeir). Devoted and loving father of Suzanne, Liliane (Nadim Krayem), Kanaan, Georges (Suzanne Biagé), Narimane and Fouad. Predeceased by his sisters Samira (late Joe Thomas), Hanneh (late Halim Makhoul), Victoria (late Fares Saikaley), and our most beloved, the late Soeur Emmanuelle. Survived by his loving sisters Rose (Fares Saikaley), Marie (late Elie Kharyati) and Mounira (Semaan Semaan).

Philippe will be forever adored and cherished by his grandchildren Mikaël, Mélina, Malorie, Cassandra and Clara; and he will be very missed by his large extended family members and friends, in particular his many beloved nephews and nieces who have the utmost admiration for him and by whom he was so proud to be called ‘Khalo’.

He will be well remembered as one of the greatest patriots, for the great love he had for his family, his unwavering loyalty to his friends, his adoration of all others, his humility, his strength, and his undeniable zest for life even throughout his health challenges.

A funeral service will be held at St. Charbel Maronite Church, 245 Donald Street, Ottawa, Ontario, on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow immediately thereafter at Beechwood Cemetery. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Charbel Maronite Church or to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be greatly appreciated.
