I had the pleasure to meet you only once. It’s a shame there could not have been more as I would have liked to get to know you better. I do know the person you were though through the deeds of your son. Rest easy.

So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was a great guy. We had many laughs together.

It is with deep sadness that we won't be able to reconnect with Don after sharing so many years and happy memories together. As a young Private soldier stationed in Germany in the late 1970's early 80's, Don was one of, and certainly the most favourite, supervisors and mentors. His sage advice and guidance helped me immensely throughout my Canadian Military life both as a non-commissioned and commissioned officer. Don was all about mentoring his juniors to help them succeed, seldom ever thinking about himself. In those days, Colleen and I spent many get- togethers with Don and Marg whether it was in Germany, Ottawa, Hull or at their cottage in Quebec. Regretfully, we lost touch over the last 25 years. We, and the world, will greatly miss such a colorful, entertaining, self-sacrificing and lovable character. Rest in Peace Don, you are one of the best. Jim & Colleen

Once met, Don was the kind of guy who, coupled with Marguerite, simply was someone to emulate. Generous with his time, attention, empathy and good humour he dramatically changed the direction of my career, my sports and ultimately my attitude as to how to face life and even death.

I cherish the wonderful times we shared in Lahr. Don was a prince of a guy with a heart of gold. He had a positive attitude and a great sense of humour. Thanks for your service and friendship. RIP

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Don while we were stationed in Germany. He was a wonderful, fun-loving person who was a joy to work with. The swear jar he put in the orderly room to keep the troop conversations clean allowed us to go out for the occasional lunch.
