Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in his 81st year on January 9, 2023 surrounded by his family. Loving husband of 59 years to Jean (nee DiFlorio). Beloved father of Laurie (Don) and Heather. Proud grandfather of Shane (Grace) and Mae (Michael).

Jerry was commissioned into the Royal Canadian Infantry in 1962 and retired in 1996. He served with the Canadian Guards, the Canadian Airborne Regiment and The Royal Canadian Regiment in Canada, USA, Germany, Cyprus, and as Defence Attache to Mexico, Central America and Cuba.

He and his family had several postings in Canada, Germany, Virginia, and Mexico providing adventures and cherished memories wherever they went.

An officer and a gentleman known for his quick wit and great sense of humour. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and comrades-in-arms.

At Jerry's request, a private family burial will take place at Beechwood National Military Cemetery.

Jerry and I went through officer training together at the Infantry School in 1961. I will always remember him as a great soldier, a leader in every respect and a friend. To Jean and the family, please accept my deepest condolences. I hope that the outpouring of support from Jerry’s many comrades and friends will help you bear the great burden of his loss. Pro Patria

My sincerest and deepest condolences to Jean, Laurie, and Heather. I have the utmost respect for Jerry and loved hearing his stories from his military career. A true officer and a gentleman. Jerry was my idol as a young army Reservist. So sorry for your loss.

Jerry and I started our careers together in September 1960 and I was most fortunate to serve with him a number of times during our lengthy military service namely Germany, Kingston, NDHQ Ottawa. An outstanding officer and leader for whom I retained my utmost respect. My heart goes out to you, Jean, and to your two daughters at this very sad time.
