Dr. Arnold (Arnie) Newton died suddenly at home on September 19, 2022 leaving behind his wife of 50 years, Marie Newton (Anderson).  Arnie was the proud father of Dr. Jennifer Charbonneau (Stephane), Dr. Allison Newton-Moore (Janine), Mark Newton (Ali), and Adam Newton (Lindsay).  Loving grandfather to Matthew, Madeleine, and Luc Charbonneau;  Caleb and Lachlan Moore;  Georgia and Beckett Newton;  and Gwen and Lucy Newton.

Arnie is survived by his brother Lionel Newton (Petra), and sister Rochelle Dennis (Paul).  He will be missed by his nieces and nephews and large extended family.

Arnie graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1973 as a Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He practiced for 30 years at York County Hospital (now The Southlake Medical Centre) and then moved to Ottawa where he continued to practice medicine right to the end.

Arnie was proud of his family and passionate about medicine.  He loved chatting with patients and friends, telling a good story or joke, and adored his dogs.  His jovial nature and playful sense of humour will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:30am, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southlake Medical Centre and The Ottawa Heart Institute.

Was checking the doctors I had in Newmarket and where they are now and was SHOCKED ! to see he passed away in September of this year. Knew he left Newmarket for Ottawa and thought he retired there and seen he was working at the Ottawa Hospital. He delivered by son in 1982 and he was an exceptional, warm , kind man. Condolences to the family?

Sending my deepest condolences to his loved ones. He was a kind, warm, and encouraging person. I felt very assured having him as my doctor at the time. I pray that he may rest in peace.

As a former patient of Dr. Newton I recently received the news of his passing via mail. My deepest condolences to family and friends of Dr. Newton. He was my first gynecologist and was absolutely amazing at the work he did. As an older gentleman I imagine it would have been difficult to gain the trust of young women in such a vulnerable position but every incounter I had with him was handled with an immense amount of professionalism and compassion which I was and always will be so greatful for. He will truly be missed. May he rest in peace.
