It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Daniel Médard Jobin on December 22, 2022 at the age of 97. A loving husband and father, he left us on the dawn of his 98th birthday after a full life rich in experiences, including twenty-five years of teaching electronics at Algonquin College.
Beloved husband of the late Yvonne Drouin, son of the late Joseph Jobin and Hectorine Clairoux, brother of the late Victor Jobin, he is survived by his children Nicole (Patrick Slinn), Monique (Brian Nichols), Francine, and Richard (Chantal Huneault). Also, by his grandchildren Daniel Nichols (Priscilla), Stefan Nichols (Émilie), Renaud Jobin-Delaquis (Arielle), Camille Jobin-Delaquis and Dania Jobin; and by his great-grandchildren Mikaila, Charli, Chloé and Parker and by his sisters-in-law Yvette Drouin Nadeau and Gisèle Racette Drouin and by a dear cousin Jacqueline Martin and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will take place Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Daniel Jobin to the Eye Institute – Glaucoma Fund would be greatly appreciated. I want to express my sincere condolences to my dear friends Richard, Chantal and Danya. I met Mr. Jobin a number of times and he was a truly wonderful man. Richard, you were more than a loving son to Mr. Jobin - you were his best friend, his anchor, his light. You spoke of him so often, telling me what an exceptional person he was and how he inspired you every day of your life. His kind shall not pass this way again. But the example that you, Chantal and Danya have set for hard work, great achievement and high ethical standards will continue to honour Mr. Jobin despite his no longer being with us. I am terribly sorry for your loss.
